Beach Pictures and Exciting Day!

This week has been so busy so far, I didn’t get around to taking outfit pictures for this Wednesday’s post. Also, today, my mom, sister and I are driving all day to pick up our new puppy! So, I thought I’d post these pictures that we took when my family went to the beach near Gulf Shores, AL, earlier this summer.

I knew we would be taking portraits, and I wanted to make a classic white “beach dress.” I haven’t really posted yet about the clothes I’ve made for myself, but I really, really love to sew! My mom taught me to sew when I was about 12, and I’ve been making things ever since.

Anyway, although I looked and looked, I couldn’t find a pattern with the exact silhouette that I wanted. I wanted a look that was classic and structured, but still a feminine and relaxed. So, I found a pattern to use for the bodice, and just made a simple circle skirt to add onto the bodice. I made it out of white linen, which was perfect for the beach.

 

Looking at these pictures makes me want to go back to the beach! It was such a lovely, relaxing vacation.
